Summer Break Spot
Palm Beach, Martin, Broward and Dade Counties
“This program provides healthy meals to hundreds of thousands of Florida children throughout the summer,” Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam said. “Studies show kids who eat nutritious food perform better academically. We have expanded this program by 21 percent in the past three years to help kids eat healthy in the summer and be better prepared for school in the fall.”
Currently, 14 counties operate mobile units: Bay, Broward, Clay, Duval, Gilchrist, Hillsborough, Leon, Marion, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Putnam and Santa Rosa. Fleets of renovated school buses, trucks and vans will make stops at parks and recreation centers, affordable housing units and other locations that lack an established Summer BreakSpot site.
They are always looking for sponsors and feeding site operators for Summer BreakSpot. If you are interested in joining the program, contact their Prospective Sponsor Team at 800-504-6609.
