Current Volunteer Needs
Sort Food - CROS Warehouse – Lake Worth
Every even month, the second Saturday, we receive a large donation of food. We need volunteers to help us sort the food in following the week. Other times are available. You can bring a group of 4 to 10 and set a time in the late afternoon or on a weekend.
Contact Brian Rowe at firstname.lastname@example.org or 561-779-7936.
Make or Collect Hygiene Kits
At the Caring Kitchen we give out hygiene kits to homeless persons. The items included in the kit are travel size: disposable razor, toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, lotion, soap, and shampoo. Families or a group of families can hold a drive to collect the needed items and then assemble them into gallon size plastic bags. We need 100 per month. Contact Shona Castillo at 561-308-7980 or email@example.com.
Hold a Canned Food Drive
The Community Food Pantry provides emergency food for people waiting to receive food stamps. One family or a group of families can sponsor a food drive to collect canned vegetables, fruit, meat, tomato sauce, etc. The summer time is when we are especially low on food, but a food drive would be helpful at any time. You can also hold a food drive for the Caring Kitchen by collecting large #10 size cans of vegetables, beans, meat, etc. Contact Brian Rowe at firstname.lastname@example.org or 561-779-7936.
SEASONAL VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES:
Postal Carrier Food Drive – 2nd Saturday in May
The Postal Carrier Food Drive is a nation-wide food drive organized by the National Letter Carriers Association, taking place on the second Saturday in May. We need volunteers to help us collect and sort food at specific postal locations in Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. We have two shifts in the afternoon for each site. Groups, individuals and youth are welcome. Contact Brian Rowe at email@example.com or 561-779-7936.
Participate in the Hustle2End Hunger 5K Run/Walk
Each year CROS Ministries’ holds a 5K run/walk to raise money for the different programs. 100% of the money raised helps to feed the hungry, provide summer camps, and offer hope to so many. The walk occurs in early October in the morning at John Prince Park. Contact Gibbie Nauman at 561-233-9009 x108 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CROS Gleanings take place on Saturday mornings from late November through most of July. Sunday mornings from mid- January to thru April. Large groups can schedule a gleaning event on a Monday or Friday with advance notice. Mango gleaning in June will have some weekday dates. The food is then distributed free of charge by the Palm Beach County Food Bank to local agencies feeding families with low incomes in our community.
